Mavis Amo-Mensah

Practice Head, Leadership & Development Communication

Mavis Amo-Mensah is an experienced public relations educator, researcher, consultant and mentor. She is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication and Media Studies, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and holds administrative position as the Director, Office for Institutional Advancement in the University.

Mavis holds a PhD in Public Relations and Communication from Leeds Beckett University, UK, where she served as member of the Integrated Reporting steering committee of the Centre for Governance, Leadership and Global Responsibility. She is an alumna of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, UK, and an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana.

Mavis has presented her research at both academic and practitioner conferences in various countries around the world, and has published in Emerald, Pearson Education, Routledge as well as several journals. She received an Outstanding Author Contribution Award in the 2019 Emerald Literati Award and was also recipient of ‘PR Academic of the Year Award 2018’ organised by the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana.

Mavis is a Member of the College Council of the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Aburi; member of the interim management team of the Communication Educators Association of Ghana (CEAG); and Vice-President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UEW-Branch). Her research interests and areas of expertise include strategic and corporate communication, development communication, corporate social responsibility, sustainability communication and public relations.
